2 Signs a Psychic is GOOD (And the ONE Sign They’re NOT!)

What are the best signs a psychic is good?

Can you tell by how much they charge…..or how long they’ve been in business, or the amount of testimonials listed on their website?  What about the TYPE of psychic readings they offer?  Are some sort of psychic skill sets more easy to spot over others…..or do they all work pretty much the same way?

And what is the very BEST way to tell a psychic, medium or professional reader of any type is the real deal BEFORE you spend too much time or money on a reading?  Is there a true way to tell…..or is it all just one big guessing game?

In this article we are going to take a quick and easy look at the 2 biggest signs a professional psychic is the genuine article, and the #1 WARNING sign I look for to caution me to beware!

Curious what 20 years of research, writing and all sorts of incredible experiences have taught me?  Continue reading as we take a closer look below:

Filed Under:  Brevity is to YOUR Benefit

 Said differently……Keep it SHORT.

The LESS you say, the more accurate a real psychic or medium will become.  Why?  Because genuine psychic abilities, and therefore….genuine psychic professionals do NOT want you to say much of anything at all.  They want to listen to your concerns, and address your issues in a way that does NOT require a lot of input, insight or feedback from the caller or client.

The truth is, this is the primary reason that most GOOD psychics and mediums will caution you to keep your answers as close to “Yes” or “No” as possible, and will actually cut you off if you start to reveal too much detail.

Filed Under”  The Benefits of “Blind” Readings

This is controversial to some, but to those of us who have been around the psychic industry for any length of time, it’s a well known truism.  The BEST psychics and mediums work “blind”.  They don’t want to see you face to face, and don’t want anything that can possibly “pollute” the reading to come through via ordinary means.

For this reason, the best true psychics will work either via phone, (the best blinding mechanism there is) or via some sort of screen, filter or curtain if the reading is done in person….without ever setting sight on the sitter (or client) until the reading is done.

Why?  For the obvious reason that it’s much more difficult to explain away real “hits” as cold reading or good guesses when you can’t visually see the person who is being read.  It’s also much better for the CONFIDENCE of the client as well…..as you won’t worry after the reading about how much you “gave away” through body language, or your physical appearance, or through unconscious mannerisms that give of clues during the session.

Ironically, while many people think that the best psychics ONLY work face to face and don’t use the phone….the reality is actually the complete opposite.  (And the real reason that most scientific studies of psychics and mediums are done completely blind, usually only by phone and never in a setting where psychic and client can see each other at all)

The biggest sign a psychic is FAKE?

A reader who fishes for answers, asks long detailed questions, or is overly insistent that they are RIGHT, even when you insist they’re not, is a huge turn off, and professionally, as a writer and paranormal researcher for many years….something I’ve learned is a huge red flag as well.

The funny thing?

Trusting your own intuition, and going with your gut is often the very BEST barometer for trusting people you meet in any walk of life.

And when it comes to folks who have the gift of enhanced intuition?  Strangely,  in my experience, it is even more of an asset here than anywhere else….and when your gut is telling you someone is GENUINE, it’s a really good sign you are about to  experience something really good.

(and of course, the reverse is equally true as well)

Warning! 3 Signs a Psychic is NOT Trustworthy (And The #1 Sign They ARE As Well)

March 25, 2012  |  psychic blog  |  No Comments

What are the signs a psychic should not be trusted?

How do fake or pretend psychics and mediums give themselves away?  What are the signs a psychic website or service is a scam?  In this short article we are going to take a quick and easy look at 3 of the most common warning signs that a psychic may be pulling your leg….and the fastest way to validate that they’re worth trying anyway.  Curious to know more?  Let’s take a quick look below!

Warning Sign #1:  The high pressure sales pitch

No legitimate psychic, or service will try to sell you on higher priced premium packages during a reading.  Your time is valuable, and even if you’ve only paid for a short session, you shouldn’t be spending it deflecting pressure to lengthen your reading for more money.  No honest service does this…and if it starts, your best bet is to thank them for their time…..  and quickly disconnect.

Warning Sign #2:  The “I see something serious” but you’ll need to pay more to find out…

This is the sleaziest, sneakiest and smarmiest segment of the psychic industry, but it DOES exist, and I’ve had it happen to me on more than one occasion as well.  (in my case, and in many others….it happens offline, when seeing a psychic or medium face to face, and they want you to come back in for a more elaborate cleaning, clearing or healing ritual)

The truth is, when you pay for a psychic reading, you should get access to ALL information that you signed up to hear, in a professional manner…..PERIOD.  Anything less than that is a total “FAIL” and should not be tolerated.

Warning Sign #3:  A pushy or overly insistent intuitive

Nothing turns me off more than NOT being respected during a reading, and if a reader simply insists that he or she is right, even though I keep repeating that the information doesn’t fit my situation, I’m inclined to end the call, or session immediately.  Why?  Because there is a big difference between someone trying to offer insight or information or help that is unknown to you…versus trying to tell you something about your life that you know, with 100% certainty, simply doesn’t apply.  This is much more likely to be the sign of a BAD psychic (or outright fake) than it is that you are really overlooking information that they insist is true.  (although there are exceptions to this, it’s still a good rule to follow)

The best sign that a psychic is worth seeing?

If they put their money….where they’re mouth is.  The truth is, the very BEST psychics, mediums and networks offer 100% money back guarantees and performance promises that PROTECT you from a bad reading.  If you don’t get a reading that blows you away….you don’t have to pay.  In my experience, there is not better way to put a psychic to the test than that, and no faster way to weed out the ones who don’t cut it as well!

2 Warning Signs a Psychic is a Fake

“Take this she told me and don’t put it down…….EVEN for a second”

I was standing in her small cramped station, and as the reading came to an end, she handed me a small translucent crystal.

“I want you to bring this back to me tomorrow…..and I’m going to try to mend the rift in your energy, with the person who has left you, and align the Universe in your favor once again”

I had just been through a devastating breakup…and even though I had years of psychic research, readings, writings and was a professional publisher in the marketplace, I desperately needed help, and wanted to believe.

I walked out, surprising myself….still clutching the small crystal.

I went back the next day of course, as instructed…and I think you can probably GUESS what sort of conversation took place when I did.

Of course my romance could be re-kindled. But it was going to take a lot of work. And a lot of money. But if I really wanted this person back, it could be done if we started fast.

The truth is, while I of course walked out without paying another penny, many people are NOT nearly as fortunate. (or are even more desperate than I felt even then)

There are 2 very common psychic “scams” that can bamboozle even the most cautious amongst us, and I’m going to share both of them with you below.

1 – The Relationship Recovery Scam

Yes, a good psychic or emotional intuitive CAN give you amazing advice for recovering a relationship and helping to figure out whether the one you’re in is IT. What they can’t do of course, is do some sort of magic ritual to make it happen. The truth is, you will NOT find a reputable, reliable psychic offering over-priced rituals, magic or promises like the one I got above. (and if you do……run!)

2 – Candle Lighting, Curses, Healing or Hexes

Again, I don’t mean to sound overly critical, and I DO believe that energy healing practices like Reiki hold huge promise to change the world down the road. But a psychic who promises to do a “remote healing” or to cure cancer, or to place a curse on someone you don’t like…..is going to be a con artist, and NOT a clairvoyant.

The key takeaway is, a good psychic reading CAN be one of the most enlightened, enjoyable and exciting experiences any of us can have. Yet, it doesn’t mean that someone who has a very enhanced perception, or can “tap into” unseen worlds can do things that sound SO too good to be true that it causes you to lose your head. Keep this in mind as YOU enjoy the wild, wonderful and often wacky world of psychic experiences and don’t forget to embrace the magic, and the mystery when you do!

Is Your Favorite Psychic A Fake? How to Tell if Your Intuitive is Taking You For a Ride

October 2, 2009  |  Psychic Reading Tips  |  No Comments

Have you ever been ripped off by a psychic?  It’s not fun, right?  To be totally honest with you…..I never really have!  But since we’ve added more posts about psychic readings and the pros and cons of outsourcing your psychic needs…..well, we’ve gotten some email about people who most certainly have.  Want to know the truth?  I’ve had lots of great psychic readings.

And a few that were simply "so-so".  And a few that have been MIND BLOWING great.  And a few that have been not even close!  But I’ve never felt "ripped off" per se…..or scammed, or taken advantage of.  Even the very worst psychic readings I’ve gotten have been the byproduct of very nice people who simply did NOT have much of a "gift".

But they meant well – and were not trying to take advantage.  (and for the most part, those were typically the readings I didn’t expect much from to begin with) Some people HAVE though, been ripped off, or taken for big money.  Watch out – and buyer beware…especially when you see someone in person.  (rather than calling or chatting online which I tend to believe is much safer)

Look for some of these warning signs below…and if you sense this is happening, simply go the other way quickly!

Hexes and Healings are NOT a Good Sign: If your psychic starts talking about any of these things, there is a better shot than not that they are taking you for a ride and are NOT the real deal.A Fee Scale That Changes In the Middle of the CallThis happens often with those bait and switch "free" psychic offers. As we’ve pointed out in the past, simply stay away from these style promotions, as they are never good for clients and customers. Instead, they are simply put out there like a "trap" to lure you in, and then they make big promises to solve your problems for additional fees.An Inflexible ReaderSure, many psychics are passionate, and truly believe that what they see is right, EVEN if you don’t. But a psychic who shows NO flexibility in this regard is usually not the real deal. All information is interpreted. All good psychics know that they "filter" what they get through the prism of their own perspective…and an insistence on ALWAYS being right is more of a personality defect than a sign of accuracy, ability or even authenticity. (unless of course….it’s a health or safety issue only, and they are trying to make sure you take care of something important)
