Are tarot cards “psychic”? How do they predict the future?
Good question! (and a very common one as well) The truth is, the tarot is what I call a symbolic science. They represent both symbolic archetypes and trends in your life, as well as provide the reader with a frame of reference by which to interpret your current karma, or the trajectory the decisions you’ve made thus far are taking you.
So, in effect…..I don’t believe that the cards themselves are psychic, but I DO definitely believe that they provide a unique window into your soul, or spiritual direction, and most professional tarot card readers I know agree with this as well.
A good analogy?
If you’ve ever had a ouija board experience, for example……the same basic idea is at play. A cardboard box from Parker Brothers is not, by itself, connected to the spirit world. But, by channeling and focusing your energy and concentration on using it, it DOES open up a gateway for communicating with spirits, and I’ve had many amazing experiences to prove it. Similarly, the tarot is a way of “channeling” your own intuition, and intentions, and spiritual direction in a focused way that allows a gifted intuitive to interpret your unique karma in a very effective way.
Are tarot readers psychic themselves?
Some definitely are, yes. But again, in my opinion, the tarot is actually a tool of science, as much as spirit! (and believe it or not, depending on what history you believe is true, was originally used by BOTH new age astronomers and scientists for the purposes of “divining” the future as as result)
How accurate are tarot cards?
They are only as accurate as the reader who is interpreting them! In other words, unless you know what to look for, and what they are trying to tell you, you are limited by the interpretation offered for each card, by the individual who is reading them. I’ve had AMAZING readings that have been uncannily accurate in the morning….and the same day, with almost the same cards, have had very different interpretations done by LESS skilled tarot readers, without any real “change” in the symbols themselves.
For this reason, the MOST important criteria for interpreting your own reading is comfort with the intuition, and understanding of the individual who gave you the reading in the first place. (and another great reason to do a “test” session with any tarot psychic BEFORE you spend a lot of money, or invest too much time with someone you don’t know is RIGHT for you, before you do!)

We each have karma. We each make choices that have consequences. The tarot is a GREAT tool to see the big picture perspective, but it’s NOT magic, and much like medicine, science or any other service profession, the skill of the practitioner is CRITICAL to getting it right!
