What are some good questions to ask a psychic medium?
Is everything fair game? Can a medium make contact with anyone I want…..or do they simply see whoever “shows up” instead? In short…..if I really want to make contact with a loved one on the other side, what are the rules for getting a great reading that truly lives up to the hype? Do mediums “see” whoever comes through, or can I “ask” to see someone in particular?
A great question, and one that comes up quite a bit! The truth is, every medium works a bit differently, and has a different set of skills as well. Most legitimate mediums will see a spirit around you, and whether that particular spirit has shown up, or simply is ALWAYS around you, depends on who you ask. (and what you believe, and maybe even depends a bit on the the circumstances of what the spirit him or herself is “doing” in the afterlife)
For example?
Some spirits seem to “stick around” and gravitate to people and places they loved during life, rather than move on in the next world. (which according to many psychic mediums, is the chief reason certain places feel “haunted”, when a given spirit attaches to a place for an extended period of time)
Good questions to ask a medium?
Really anything that will give YOU validation that the communication is genuine. There is no real answer that is universally applicable here, it’s more about what YOU need to know that confirms that the information you are hearing is valid, genuine and NOT being made up by the medium.
Questions to NOT ask a psychic or medium?
Honestly, you never want to ask a psychic (or a spirit) when YOU are going to die, or anything that forecasts your own demise. It’s not really comfortable for the medium, NOR is it always accurate if you get an answer at all. (and believe it or not, MOST honest psychics will tell you that they don’t “see” this on demand years and years in advance, it’s something that they’ll sense when close or during a much deeper life reading)
And remember……
Asking a medium questions, or trying to make contact with a loved one who has crossed over is a GREAT way to help with your own grief resolution, and to be reminded that life doesn’t end with physical death. I know that lots of people don’t believe this as well of course……but if you keep your mind open, and just “test” a legitimate medium reading to see, I’m pretty confident you are going to find the experience CAN change what you believe about life, death and everything in between!
I’m going to start this article off with a confession, and a revelation as well. (just so you know where I’m coming from)
I have absolutely NO doubt that there are many amazing psychic mediums working today, who can give you honest, insightful access to your loved ones who have crossed over to the other side. PERIOD.
I’ve not only had many, many personal experiences that has proved this to me beyond the shadow of a doubt, I have many close friends who are professional mediums, who can do exactly that.
That’s the “revelation” if you will.
The confession is THIS: Some mediums cheat.
As a matter of fact, I’ve had FAR more bad readings in my life, than good ones.
The bad ones are rarely due to cheating, rather…..they are due to the medium NOT being all that good! That said – many mediums employ various cheating techniques to help them appear far more gifted than they are. The short list below is a compendium of my OWN checklist of “cheats”, and things I look for whether I’m visiting a medium in person, or whether I’m speaking to them by phone.
- Lots of leading questions. (“have you traveled recently?”)
- Lots of VAGUE generalities (I see the letter “D”)
- Too many open ended answers. (a good medium wants you to say LESS, rather than more.
- Yes and NO answers are preferable)
An obvious attention to your body language, appearance or mannerisms (you feel like you are being “looked up and down” and judged) And insistence on WRONG information. (many mediums will try to insist something is true, even when you make it clear that it’s not!) Obviously a medium who wants to charge you more money, or incorporate other services you didn’t sign up for…..is NOT being honest. (no reputable psychic or medium will try to sell you on a candle lighting ceremony, a spell or a curse removal, and if this comes up….RUN for the hills in a hurry!)
The bottom line is, do NOT allow the bad mediums who manipulate the public scare you from seeking out legitimate mediums who CAN change your life in amazing ways. There are bad “seeds” in every profession, and while I’d love to believe all psychics are honest, unfortunately, there are a few bad apples in ours as well!

An after death communication (commonly coined ADC’s after the famous book “Hello from Heaven” which documented 1000 of these cases) are powerful, profound and often LIFE changing experiences where someone who has left this world comes “back” to say hello!
They are often symbolized by a strong sense, feeling or presence….accompanied by a deep knowing that your loved one is close
Often times a familiar smell, sound or touch accompanies the visit
An auditory experience is very common as well……where you will actually HEAR your name being called, in the voice of the person who has crossed over.
Most INFREQUENTLY (but still very common) is the experience of actually seeing someone who has passed on in “physical” form, where you can literally see your friend or family member in full view, often as clearly as looking at another living person.
While these types of ADC’s are the least common of the group, they are the most profound, and often provide the greatest PROOF that you weren’t imagining a sound, or a smell, or a sensation you associated with your loved one.
I’ve had this very experience…..and saw very clearly a co-worker who appeared to me while I slept, and stood silently at the foot of my bed, while I struggled to figure out what he was doing there. 30 seconds later he was gone…….and only the next morning did I find out he had passed suddenly and unexpectedly of a heart attack during the night.
While these experiences are truly incredible, believe it or not, many go unreported for FEAR of being labeled crazy, nuts or just plain weird. It took me a long time to share my story, and even today…….I know that folks who don’t know me well will roll their eyes a little bit when they hear it, especially when I meet or speak with groups of skeptics, cynics and debunkers who believe ALL of this stuff is silly.
The good news?
If you’ve had an ADC, you are in GOOD company. Many studies show that 80% of parents who lose a child prematurely (at an unusually young age) WILL have an after death communication, and often even hard core skeptics will become converted by the experience. Like mine, many of these encounters take place at night…..and often are described as somewhat “dreamlike” yet incredibly real, vivid and while we KNOW we are most definitely awake and aware!
Talking to psychic medium can be a great way of facilitating your OWN ADC experience if you haven’t had one…….and I know many people who have found a conversation with a psychic or medium to be a great gateway into contact with the spirit world, and our loved ones who “live” there as well!

Filed Under: My First “Genuine” Psychic Reading (And the ODD Thing is it Wasn’t Even MINE!)
When I first started researching psychic readings, I was referred to call a phone psychic that many of my friends believed was the real deal. But because I was skeptical of ALL things psychic, and because I worried that my friends might share some information with this reader ahead of my call (even though they promised they wouldn’t) I planned a little last minute “switch” that I knew the psychic would never see coming! I had a guy in my office pretend to be me…….and knew that if the “psychic” described ME, it was a set up, and I would have caught all of them red handed in a scam!
My co-worker happens to have a very rare, very aggressive form of eczema, where much of his body is covered in itchy, flaky skin. I had many readings with mediums that were NOT all that impressive. But it wasn’t until I had a reading with a phone psychic that again, was recommended to me by friends, that I became a believer. This time I called at a random time, using a fake name so that there was no chance of being “researched” ahead of time. (not that I believe that really happens NOW, but then I was suspicious and didn’t want to chance it)

Believe it or not, Yoga studio’s, meditation centers, and even energy healing style services often have intimate relationships with talented intuitives, and you’ll find them “hanging” out in the same places to boot!
- Telephone Psychic Services
This USED to be controversial area, but today….some of the very BEST psychics in the world work for the popular online networks. A good tip is, you CAN get a heavily discounted reading if you take advantage of special “trial” or test readings that are offered to NEW customers, clients and callers, and often at rates that are 80% and less than their published rates. (I’ve had many readings with $200 an hour psychics for $20 bucks, and if you know where to look, so TOO can you!)
